Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) held a brief exploratory meeting with Hon. Remigio S. Tayag, Jr., Chairperson of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Education and his staff, to discuss a prospective partnership engagement with Scam Ready ASEAN, an initiative aimed at strengthening awareness and protection against various forms of fraud and online scamming.

The proposed partnership seeks to equip LPC employees and students with essential knowledge and practical strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to fraudulent schemes, particularly the growing threats of online scams and other deceptive activities targeting young people and members of the community.

As part of the proposed engagement, a series of orientation workshops and awareness sessions for students and employees will be scheduled and conducted by batch on designated dates.

The initiative is envisioned to strengthen the College community's awareness and preparedness against becoming victims of increasingly sophisticated scamming strategies.

“This is timely because nowadays, many cases involving students have been reported in relation to online scams. I, for one, have also been victimized by this prohibited act,” College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon shared during the discussion on the proposed training program.

The initiative is expected to promote greater safety, awareness, and protection among members of the academic community. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the proposed partnership will likewise be processed and scheduled accordingly, with the QUALITI Office tasked to review the draft agreement and facilitate the necessary institutional arrangements.

Apart from the proposed Scam Ready ASEAN partnership, the meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss other important institutional concerns and development initiatives. Among the matters taken up were the College's plans to apply for additional academic programs, preparations for the CHED onsite inspection and validation visit, and the UniFAST audit and monitoring activities.

Dr. Pres. Dr. De Leon also opened up his proposed microcredentialing of preservice teachers which is currently being processed as part of a research output and entails needed appropriations.

The group likewise discussed the training vouchers provided through the Office of Hon. Congressman Albert S. Garcia for the Instrumentation and Control Servicing Training Program.

In the implementation of the scholarship and training opportunities, it was emphasized the importance of ensuring inclusivity, access, and equity, particularly through the equitable distribution of available slots among qualified beneficiaries from different barangays of Limay.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Hon. Tayag conveyed his continued support and best wishes to LPC in its forthcoming institutional undertakings, particularly its ongoing application for new academic programs. He noted that the initiative had already received the necessary support and approval through a Sangguniang Bayan Resolution.

On behalf of the entire LPC community, Dr. De Leon expressed his appreciation to Hon. Tayag, the whole Sangguniang Bayan led by Hon. VM Marie Grace David and the Local Government of Limay and the respective departments and units headed by Hon. Mayor Richie Jason David for their continuing support, affirmation, and confidence in the College's development initiatives.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between Limay Polytechnic College and the Local Government of Limay as they continue to work together in advancing student welfare, educational opportunities, institutional development, and responsive programs that address the emerging needs and challenges of the community. #
