The Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Region 3 chaired by Dr. Olivia Almario, dean of College of Education at La Consolacion University Philippines (LCUP), conducted the Regional Student Congress at Kalinangan Auditorium, LCUP, Malolos, Bulacan, January 24. It was attended in by almost thousands of preservice teachers all over Central Luzon, both through onsite and online modalities.
Revolving its theme on Navigating Educational Frontiers: Future-Ready Teachers in the Changing World, Dr. Elmer De Leon, PAFTE Vice President for Luzon, delivered his keynote address by posing a challenge to preservice teachers amidst issues and complexities in the fast changing world.
Amazingly, three important partner agencies with the respective regional directors converged and rendered their words of inspiration and bits of wisdom for future teachers, namely: Dr. Ronnie Mallari (DepEd); Dr. Lora Yusi (CHED); and Mr. Paul Aban (PRC). Meanwhile, Sr. Niceta Vargas, OSA, LCUP president welcomed everyone in her message, while Dr. Alejandro Bernardo and Mr. Wilbert Carolino from University of Santo Tomas and DepEd Manila served as resource lecturers who delivered their talks on topics related to soft skills in future education and technology in Matatag Curriculum.
With this well-organized convergence of future-ready teachers with topics that are timely, relevant and responsive to the demands of time in the teaching industry, it is assumed that preservice teachers in Region 3 are future ready as prepared by their TEIs and assisted by DepEd, CHED, PRC and PAFTE.
Dr. De Leon left the important 5P2 to reflect on by the participants. To wit: Power, Potential, Purpose, Persistence, Progress to Practice, Prepare, Perfect, Persist and Prove in order to be successful and future-proofed.
