Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) continues to advance its digital library development as the Library Advisory Board convened on August 4 to finalize the selection and mapping of electronic book titles for the College's planned perpetual e-book acquisition.
The meeting, held at the Office of the College President, was led by Dr. Elmer De Leon, College President, together with Ms. Jaide Llanda, College Librarian. Also present were the academic representatives Ms. April Cruz, Director of Academic Affairs and Head of the Department of Teacher Education; Dr. John Levy Rueda, Head of the Department of Business and Accountancy; and Ms. Cheyser Charrese Gatchula, Head of the Information Technology Education Department.
The committee reviewed the current status of the College Library, discussed ongoing development initiatives, and further strengthened LPC's partnership with C&E Adaptive Learning Solutions, the institution's provider of electronic learning resources.
A major highlight of the meeting was the collaborative selection and mapping of foreign electronic book titles for perpetual purchase, ensuring that the planned digital collection will directly support the College's academic programs and future curriculum offerings.
In selecting the resources, the committee adopted a cost-benefit and return-on-investment (ROI) approach by prioritizing titles that are curriculum-based, relevant to course competencies, and current in publication, with many of the selected references carrying 2026 editions.
The collection also includes materials that will support the College's newly proposed academic programs.
To ensure systematic organization and efficient resource management, the selected titles were carefully mapped according to department, academic program, subject area, and intended instructional purpose.
The mapping process was significantly enhanced through an automated mapping system developed by Ms. Cheyser Charrese Gatchula, enabling the committee to categorize, organize, and consolidate the selected references quickly and accurately.
The resulting database is now ready for submission to the supplier and will also serve as the foundation for the College's localized Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), departmental reference files, and digital quality assurance archives.
The College has likewise initiated the necessary procurement procedures with C&E Publishing, and the required documentary requirements are currently being processed in coordination with the Municipality of Limay.
Given the urgent need for additional learning resources, both parties have committed to expediting the procurement process.
While procurement is underway, C&E Publishing will provide trial access to the electronic library platform. The system will be configured using the official library account and will allow access through the official institutional accounts of students, faculty, and staff.
Once fully implemented, students will be able to access the College's digital library using the iPads available in the library, personal computers, and mobile devices connected through LPC's campus network, enabling them to read, conduct research, and complete academic requirements anytime and anywhere.
The initiative marks another significant milestone in the realization of LPC's strategic vision of becoming a digitally empowered higher education institution. It advances the goals of Pathway 1: Good Governance, Dynamic Digitalization, and Quality Assurance; Pathway 2: High-Impact Teaching-Learning Outcomes; and Pathway 4: Remarkable Student Success, Empowerment, and Support Services, reaffirming the College's commitment to providing innovative, accessible, and learner-centered educational resources for the entire academic community. #
