LPC installs Smoke Detection Devices to strengthen Campus Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness
LIMAY, BATAAN — Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) has further strengthened its campus safety and emergency preparedness by installing smoke detection devices in classrooms, laboratories, and administrative offices through the assistance of the Municipal General Services Office.
The initiative was undertaken in response to the recommendations of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) following its recent inspection of the College's facilities.
The installation forms part of LPC's continuing efforts to provide a safe and secure learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Prior to the installation of the smoke detectors, the College had already implemented several fire safety improvements.
These included the replacement of the existing fire alarm system, the installation of an additional fire alarm unit on the second floor, the removal of selected window grills to create additional emergency exit routes, posting of Exit signages and Emergency Escape Map and Floor Plan to guide everyone in going to evacuation sites, the inspection and repair of electrical supply boxes and cable lines, and the closure of ceiling openings created during the replacement and reinstallation of air-conditioning units in the classrooms and other facilities.
Further enhancing the institution's emergency response capability, Limay Polytechnic College was also selected by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to receive an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a life-saving device used to provide immediate assistance to individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
These developments underscore the College's commitment to ensuring a safe, resilient, and disaster-ready campus through continuous improvements in infrastructure and emergency response systems.
Guided by the principle, "Iba na ang handa at ligtas sa lahat ng pagkakataon," LPC continues to cultivate a culture of preparedness among its academic community.
Regular disaster risk reduction and management trainings, emergency preparedness seminars, and campus-wide evacuation and emergency drills are conducted for administrators, faculty, staff, and students to strengthen awareness and readiness for various emergency situations.
Emergency hotline numbers are prominently posted throughout the campus and on the College's official social media platforms to ensure immediate access during emergencies. The Philippine National Police regularly conducts random security surveillance in the vicinity, while the Rural Health Unit remains readily available to respond to emergency cases and casualties referred by LPC at any time. In addition, emergency preparedness guidelines and safety protocols are regularly announced during flag ceremonies and prior to the conduct of school programs and events, and posted inside the classrooms to reinforce awareness and readiness among students, faculty, staff, and guests.
The College's safety initiatives are aligned with its Strategic Direction under Pathway 1: Good Governance, Dynamic Digitalization, and Quality Assurance, reaffirming LPC's commitment to safeguarding lives and strengthening institutional resilience, while promoting excellence in institutional governance and service delivery.
The LPC Community appreciates the support and assistance of the Municipality of Limay led by Hon. Mayor Richie Jason D. David, Hon. Vice Mayor Marie Grace R. David, Sangguniang Bayan and related offices ,such as the Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Limay Community Emergency Response Team, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Rural Health Unit and Command Center for always securing the campus and making it safe all the time.
The College President likewise commends the Institutional Risk Management Team, led by Ms. Rodalie Dineros; the Safety and Security Team, headed by Mr. Ariel Vibar; and the Quality Assurance Office, under the leadership of Mr. Mark Anthony Banda, for their unwavering commitment to maintaining campus safety and security, ensuring prompt emergency response, and fulfilling the essential compliance requirements in this critical and highly significant area of institutional management. #
