𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | LPC recalibrates faculty on OBE, audits curriculum alignment for Quality Education

Faculty members of Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) underwent a comprehensive recalibration on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) and curriculum quality audit during a curriculum mapping session held on July 7 at the College Library in preparation for the opening of the new academic year.
College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon shared his expertise on curriculum and instruction by facilitating the session and reintroducing the OBE framework within the context of LPC's Philosophy of Education. He guided faculty members through the curriculum quality audit process, laying the groundwork for evaluating the existing curriculum and Flexible Learning Course Plan (FLCP) while clarifying the distinctions among various outcome statements and their corresponding levels.
Meanwhile, Ms. April Cruz, Director of Academic Affairs, presented the different outcome statements, including the Institutional Outcomes, Program Educational Outcomes, Program Vision and Mission, and Year-Level Outcomes, all mapped in alignment with the College's Vision, Mission, and Goals.
As part of the recalibration, Ms. Cruz also revisited the standards and components of the LPC Flexible Learning Continuity Plan (FLCP). She explained that course plans should focus on the most essential learning topics within a thirteen-week instructional period, taking into account orientation, examination, OBE demonstration, and culminating weeks from the total 18-week semestral timeline. She likewise emphasized the corresponding compliance requirements and implementation guidelines.
Dr. De Leon further trained the faculty on proper formulation of Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs) and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). He introduced a comprehensive list of SMART and OBE-based behavioral verbs and discussed appropriate assessment strategies, including paper-and-pencil tests, authentic, diagnostic, board examination-oriented, and digital assessments for both formative and summative evaluation.
He underscored the importance of aligning course outcomes with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Orders (CMOs), board examination competencies, industry demands and requirements, local community needs, national snd international context standards, the College's educational philosophy, and its long-term academic aspirations.
Following the orientation, faculty members conducted an intensive curriculum mapping activity to ensure both vertical alignment among outcome levels and horizontal alignment across the OBE-based components of the FLCP. The mapping process also incorporated the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) to further strengthen curriculum relevance and quality.
The session concluded with the presentation of LPC's Framework Model-Anchored Module in print format after organizing and completing the FLCP.
Ms. Cheyser Charrese Gatchula, Head of the Information Technology Education (ITE) Department, then guided faculty members on converting their printed modules into digital learning resources for upload to the College's Learning Management System (LMS). She also shared innovative PowerPoint designs and interactive digital tools to enhance classroom instruction and lesson presentation.
To further support faculty development, Dr. De Leon committed to personally validate and edit the instructional materials. Upon completion, he will also assist faculty members in publishing their works for national circulation through the LPC's Project AKLAT (Authorship for Knowledge-based Learning and Teaching). A separate writeshop will be conducted to prepare the instructional materials for publication and upscale faculty-authors on this field. #
