San Miguel Corporation (SMC) strengthens its commitment to public–private partnership by supporting Limay Polytechnic College’s (LPC) technical-vocational education, including skills training, micro-credentialing, and lifelong learning programs.

An exploratory meeting was held on April 20 at the Office of the President with SMC representatives Mr. Enrico dela Torre, Stakeholder Management Manager (SMC-Manila), and Ms. Cherry Bobadilla of Limay Power’s Business Affairs and Communications–Human Resource Administration.

They were welcomed by Dr. Elmer De Leon, LPC President, together with Ms. Rodalie Dineros, Head of TVLEMLL, and Mr. Robert Abella, Technical Trainer and presented the institution’s profile, technical-vocational program offerings and the public-private partnership proposal.

During the meeting, SMC expressed its support for the establishment of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program designed for ladderization to the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, as well as the six stand-alone NC-based training programs which can also be relevant for microcredentialing for diploma and baccalaureate courses.

The corporation committed to sponsor multimillion-peso equipment and machinery required for the operation of these programs in specialized laboratories. This sponsorship is set to run for three years.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the initiative aims to expand access to technical skills training for the youth in marginalized communities by providing them with equitable career opportunities and pathways toward improved quality of life.

The partnership builds on an existing collaboration, which began when LPC delivered skills training to SMC field personnel. Recognizing the program’s impact and effectiveness, SMC has extended its support to benefit a wider community.

Acknowledging LPC’s proven track record in quality education—evidenced by its achievements, performance, and global recognitions, SMC expressed strong confidence in partnering with the institution to implement these initiatives.

In turn, LPC commits to transparency and accountability through the submission of accomplishment reports detailing the program outcomes.

A formal meeting will soon be convened for the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement among SMC, the Local Government Unit of Limay, LPC, and TESDA, along with the soft launch of the micro-credential technical training programs.

In closing, Dr. De Leon expressed gratitude for SMC’s support.

“The initiative you are extending to our institution is both valuable and significant, as it is expected to create meaningful impact in the lives of many by helping turn their aspirations into reality,” expressed Dr. De Leon.

The said partnership was arranged, processed and coordinated by Ms. Dineros. #
