Date Posted: Oct. 21, 2026
Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) has taken a significant step toward institutionalizing its environmental sustainability agenda with the formal organization and initial briefing of the Dangal Green Campus Revolution Committee, a dedicated body tasked with advancing environmental stewardship, green governance, resource conservation, and sustainable campus development.
Building on the Collegeโs existing environmental programs, projects, and activities, the initiative seeks to establish a more coordinated, systematic, and outcomes-oriented approach to transforming LPC into a greener and more environmentally responsible local college.
The Dangal Green Campus Revolution was organized to consolidate sustainability initiatives under a unified institutional framework, with Ms. Julie Diaz and Ms. Queences Ricel De Guzman leading the Committeeโs efforts.
Through defined areas of responsibility, the Committee is expected to strengthen program implementation, improve institutional performance monitoring, and align campus sustainability initiatives with relevant assessment standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Establishing a Multidisciplinary Sustainability Management Team
The Committee brings together personnel with complementary responsibilities to address the various dimensions of environmental sustainability and institutional quality improvement.
Its membership and designated areas of responsibility are as follows:
Ms. Julie Diaz โ Green Governance, Technology Integration, and Program Initiatives
Ms. Queences Ricel De Guzman โ Climate Change and Green Education
Mr. Mark Anthony Banda โ Green Quality Assurance and Evaluation
Mr. Ariel Vibar โ Waste Management, Energy Conservation, and Policy Development
Mr. Joey Gueva โ Green Research and Data Management
Ms. Sheryl Bartolo โ Resource Management
Dr. Elmer B. De Leon โ Oversight Adviser
This multidisciplinary structure is intended to integrate environmental management into institutional governance, academic and research activities, operational systems, resource utilization, and quality assurance processes.
By assigning specific areas of responsibility, LPC seeks to strengthen accountability, encourage evidence-based decision-making, and ensure that sustainability programs generate measurable and continuing improvements.
UI GreenMetric Fact File Analysis as the Committee's Groundwork
During the initial briefing, College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon reviewed the Collegeโs UI GreenMetric Institutional Fact File analysis, establishing an initial reference for the Committeeโs planning and prioritization.
The review provided a basis for examining LPCโs existing sustainability performance, recognizing established institutional strengths, and identifying areas requiring further development.
The assessment is intended to guide the Committee in formulating appropriate interventions, setting improvement priorities, and establishing monitoring mechanisms aligned with the UI GreenMetric assessment criteria.
Dr. De Leon also presented the rationale and strategic direction of the Dangal Green Campus Revolution, formally introduced the Committee members and their respective functions, and discussed the proposed ways forward in institutionalizing the program.
He emphasized the importance of translating sustainability commitments into coordinated initiatives, practical operational measures, and measurable outcomes.
The Committeeโs work is expected to reinforce the Collegeโs continuing quality improvement (CQI) efforts, while supporting its broader commitment to responsible governance, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
Developing the Program's Identity and Governance Framework
As part of the initial organizational preparations, Ms. Julie Diaz initiated the development of a prospective program logo to establish a distinctive visual identity for the Dangal Green Campus Revolution.
She also reported the initial drafting of the programโs proposed by-laws, which were presented for review, comments, and recommendations from the Committee members.
The draft is expected to undergo further refinement before its proposed approval at the succeeding meeting.
These organizational measures are intended to provide the initiative with a clearer governance structure, defined responsibilities, and a more systematic framework for planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.
Advancing LPC's Green Campus Aspiration
The formal organization of the Dangal Green Campus Revolution reflects LPCโs recognition that environmental sustainability must extend beyond isolated activities and become an integral part of institutional culture and operations.
Through coordinated environmental programs, green governance, research-based interventions, responsible resource management, and sustainability-oriented education, the College aims to cultivate a community that actively contributes to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The initiative also reinforces LPCโs continuing engagement with the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, using institutional assessment and benchmarking as opportunities to strengthen environmental performance and pursue continuous quality improvement.
As the Committee moves toward developing its operational directions and sustainability initiatives, LPC reaffirms its aspiration to become a greener, safer, and more environmentally responsible institutionโone that demonstrates how local higher education can contribute meaningfully to global sustainability goals.
Through the Dangal Green Campus Revolution, LPC transforms environmental commitment into collective action, institutional responsibility, and measurable progress toward a sustainable future.
