𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | LGU Limay strengthens Food Security Initiative; LPC presents Commissioned Research with BPSU and DA

In its continuing commitment to building a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector, the Local Government of Limay officially presented the results of a commissioned research project aimed at strengthening the municipality's food security through evidence-based planning and policy development.

The study, titled "Food Demand and Supply Structure Analysis under the Zero Kilometro (0KM) Food Project," is a collaborative undertaking of the Department of Agriculture (DA), Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), and Limay Polytechnic College (LPC), with funding support from the Local Government of Limay.

The research seeks to provide strategic recommendations for improving local food production, enhancing the livelihoods of farmers and fisherfolks, and promoting sustainable agricultural development in the municipality.

The presentation of the study was held on June 22 at the Limay Municipal Conference Hall, attended by officials from the Department of Agriculture, the Local Government of Limay, the Sangguniang Bayan Committees on Agriculture and Labor, representatives from BPSU and LPC, and other stakeholders.

Prof. Glenda Abad of BPSU, the project's overall leader, presented the research overview, while Mr. Joemark Ablian, Director for Research, Innovation, and Extension of Limay Polytechnic College and the study leader presented the research findings and recommendations.
Following the presentation, officials from the Department of Agriculture engaged the research team through insightful questions, clarifications, and discussions.

Mr. Ablian's comprehensive presentation and well-substantiated responses earned commendation from the guests and participants for the quality and relevance of the research.

The event opened with welcome remarks from Hon. Mayor Richie Jason David, reaffirming the local government's commitment to sustainable agriculture and food security.

Messages of support were also delivered by Atty. Joycel Panlilio, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Agriculture for High Value Crops, Sagip-Saka, and Intellectual Property, and Engr. Johanna Dizon, Provincial Agriculturist of Bataan.

Representing LPC President Dr. Elmer De Leon, Dr. John Levy Rueda, Head of the Department of Business and Accountancy, conveyed the President's message expressing the College's full support for the initiative and its commitment to advancing research that directly benefits communities. Dr. De Leon was unable to attend the event due to a prior commitment involving an institutional accreditation activity.

Also present in the event were Ms. April R. Cruz, Academic Affairs director, and Mr. Mark Anthony Banda, QUALITY officer in support of Mr. Ablian's presentation.

As part of the program, the completed research report was formally turned over to Mayor David to serve as a valuable reference in formulating agricultural intervention programs, development policies, and priority projects for the municipality.

In recognition of the study's significance and successful implementation, the Department of Agriculture announced plans to expand the research across the Province of Bataan, using the Limay project as a model for developing similar evidence-based food security initiatives in other local government units.

The undertaking reflects Limay Polytechnic College's steadfast commitment to strengthening research, innovation, and community extension through collaborative, data-driven solutions that contribute to sustainable development and improve the quality of life of the people of Limay and beyond. #
