Limay Polytechnic College's president Dr. Elmer De Leon joined the rest of the higher education presidents, agency leaders, and experts in the 1st Higher Education Summit that focused on orientation of the ACHIEVE program of the Commission on Higher Education and UNESCO's sustainable development goal (SDG) implementation through various initiatives, held at SMX Clark, Pampanga, on March 10-12.

The summit revolved around the theme: Achieving Sustainable Futures: Transformative Higher Education for Human Capital, Innovation and Global Responsibility. It underscored various lectures by local and foreign dignitaries and experts, relevant policies, updates, and industry trends that the academe has to harmonize with.

Likewise, CHED Chair Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis enjoined everyone on the ACHIEVE agenda, an acronym that focuses on future directions and the hallmark roadmap of higher education in the country.

She urged everyone to make every student future-ready and industry-demand-driven, while fulfilling the SDGs, which are now enshrined in a CHED memorandum order. She also mentioned that the Philippines currently hosts the ASEAN convergence, which includes higher education prospects.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) introduced various explorations and discoveries to address human needs and social demands, advancing the SDGs through technology. Representatives from various education sectors convened in a parallel session to share their views on relevant issues and concerns.

The presidents from state, private, and local colleges and universities had a great time coming together during the social networking fellowship and parallel session workshop, where they shared their views, policies, practices, and related experiences. #
