Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) continues to strengthen its commitment to student success by ensuring that essential support services remain accessible, responsive, and aligned with students’ health, psychosocial well-being, and academic needs.

Recognizing that quality education extends beyond classroom instruction, College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon conducted separate assessment meetings with the College Clinic, Guidance and Testing, and Library Teams to review their accomplishments, address operational challenges, and establish measurable service delivery targets.

The discussions underscored a shared institutional direction: student services must not only be available but also responsive, measurable, and impactful in helping every LPCian learn, thrive, and complete their education.

Five Priority Areas for Responsive Student Services

Dr. De Leon reiterated five key service priorities for each unit, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based accomplishment reporting, continuous quality improvement, and outcomes that directly benefit students.

College Clinic: Protecting Health, Safety, and Well-Being

The College Clinic is expected to strengthen five essential areas: (1) accessible and quality health services; (2) student health profiling and data management; (3) health education, promotion, and healthy lifestyle monitoring; (4) coordination with the Rural Health Unit (RHU), medical and accident insurance providers, and hospitals for referrals; and (5) illness prevention, institutional safety, and personal protection.

These services aim to promote a healthier and safer learning environment through timely intervention, preventive education, appropriate referrals, and coordinated medical assistance.

The unit is expected to pursue full implementation of its planned services, with particular emphasis on preventing severe health complications and ensuring that health-related concerns receive appropriate and timely attention.

Guidance and Testing: Supporting Mental Wellness and Personal Development

The Guidance and Testing Unit will focus on five complementary priorities: (1) accessible and responsive counseling services; (2) reliable psychological testing and evaluation through procurement of standardized test materials and efficient administration; (3) systematic case documentation, inventory, and student profiling; (4) psychosocial support, gender and development initiatives, character formation, and wellness programs; and (5) effective follow-up, referral, and behavioral monitoring.

The unit is expected to achieve full compliance with applicable service requirements and strengthen counseling engagement among students identified as needing support.

Its ultimate objective is to ensure that behavioral, emotional, and psychosocial concerns are recognized early, addressed appropriately, and referred when necessary.

Beyond responding to individual concerns, these services reinforce LPC’s commitment to a supportive and inclusive campus environment where students can seek assistance with dignity, confidentiality, and confidence.

Library: Expanding Access to Knowledge and Digital Learning

The Library Team will sustain five priority areas: (1) continuous acquisition of relevant learning resources; (2) library promotion and recognition; (3) increased utilization of library services; (4) digitalization of resources and services; and (5) collaboration and extension initiatives.

With a target of 80–100% accomplishment across identified priorities, the Library is expected to strengthen its role as an active learning hub that supports instruction, research, independent study, and lifelong learning.

Expanding access to print and digital resources, promoting responsible information use, and developing collaborative initiatives will help ensure that students and faculty have the learning materials they need.

Addressing Challenges Through Strategic Management Support

Dr. De Leon emphasized that these servicing units are indispensable partners in institutional development.

Their contributions complement academic instruction by helping students remain healthy, emotionally supported, and equipped with the resources necessary for academic achievement.

He also encouraged personnel to deliver services with warmth, empathy, and a genuine spirit of service.

A welcoming response, timely assistance, and respectful interaction can make a meaningful difference in a student's confidence, motivation, and determination to finish college.

In reviewing the units’ accomplishments and operational concerns, the Unit Teams identified five areas requiring sustained attention: (1) personnel competencies and service capacity; (2) financial, material, and manpower resources; (3) management support and stakeholder participation; (4) coordination with the local government, agencies, and community partners; and (5) student engagement and compliance with institutional policies.

To address these concerns, the College is pursuing corresponding interventions:

Personnel development: Capability-building through external training, professional organization engagement, agency collaboration, and mentoring.

Resource optimization: Strategic budget allocation, prioritization of essential needs, and exploration of appropriate funding and resource partnerships.

Student awareness: Strengthened orientations, information dissemination, and communication of available services and procedures.

Partnership development: Expanded coordination and networking with the LGU, health institutions, professional organizations, and relevant community stakeholders.

Student participation: Consistent promotion of responsible habits, service utilization, personal accountability, and active involvement in campus programs.
These interventions aim to move beyond addressing immediate operational gaps toward building sustainable service systems that can adapt to evolving student needs.

Strengthening Communication, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement

Dr. De Leon directed the three servicing units to maintain and regularly activate their official social media pages to communicate available services, policies, operating schedules, announcements, and accomplishments.

Clear and timely information will help students access appropriate assistance while strengthening transparency and community awareness.

Following the presentation of their current accomplishments and partial reports, the teams reaffirmed their commitment to delivering quality, relevant, and efficient services.

They also committed to regularly reviewing and updating their policies, monitoring performance indicators, and evaluating outcomes to ensure that their programs remain responsive to changing needs and institutional priorities.

On the management end, Dr. De Leon assured the teams of continued support in identifying and prioritizing essential requirements within available budgets, including the procurement of necessary materials and resources.

This commitment reinforces the College’s recognition that effective student services require both dedicated personnel and sustained institutional investment.

Investing in Students, Strengthening the Institution

Ultimately, LPC’s efforts to strengthen its servicing units reflect a broader understanding of student success: academic achievement is reinforced by good health, emotional resilience, access to knowledge, and a campus environment where assistance is readily available.

By improving service capacity, optimizing resources, deepening partnerships, and institutionalizing continuous quality improvement, LPC aims to ensure that students receive not only an education but also the support they need to complete it successfully.

For LPC, student services are not merely auxiliary functions; they are essential investments in student welfare, academic persistence, and institutional excellence.
Through responsive management and a shared commitment to service, the College continues to work toward a learning environment where every LPCian is supported, empowered, and given greater opportunities to succeed. #
