The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has expressed strong support for the Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) Department of Business’ BizHub Project, recognizing it as an innovative “learn-and-earn” approach to business education.

DTI representatives Ms. Lealyn Ramos-May and Ms. Melissa Perez, Trade-Industry Development Specialists, together with Ms. Ellah Angela Resubal, Negosyo Center Business Counselor, introduced the agency’s Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP). The program aims to empower young entrepreneurs by assisting them in product marketing, costing, business registration, and patenting of innovative products.

A coordination meeting was held on April 7 at the Office of the President, attended by LPC President Dr. Elmer De Leon, Dr. John Levy Rueda (DBA Head), and Ms. Abegail Valmonte, Marketing Faculty.

During the meeting, DTI outlined a series of capacity-building activities, including entrepreneurship seminars and workshops to be conducted over four days for Marketing students. These activities will culminate in a product pitching session, where student outputs will be evaluated and endorsed to prospective companies, malls, and retail partners.

DTI also committed to introducing LPC and its economic enterprise initiatives to its network of business partners and shared potential funding opportunities for viable student business proposals. They also promised to secure slots for LPC in the product display and exhibit at Waltermart Mall and Vista Mall Bataan.

The representatives conveyed the regards of their Regional and Provincial Directors and confirmed their participation in the Pitching Program during LPC’s Business Day, which is part of the college’s Founding Anniversary celebration. They will also take part in the institution's Finest Emporium, a double dribble extension project through 'donate a corporate attire and feed the hungry' concept. It aims to assist deserving students on their corporate suit need for the job application and interview in lieu of minimal goods for the student community pantry (AKAP Program).

Meanwhile, Dr. De Leon highlighted the students’ impressive product development outputs, noting their creativity, innovation, and market relevance. He also cited the institution's plan to provide start-up capital to potential student organizations and classes for direct, purposive experiential opportunities and business immersion that clearly demonstrates 'from theory to practice' applications.

Dr. Rueda proudly shared that LPC students will represent Central Luzon in the National Young Farmers Collegiate Competition to be held in Iloilo from April 19–24. Their entry, already a regional champion, received DTI support, particularly in product packaging.

Ms. Valmonte added that several student-developed products are being prepared for upcoming competitions and for display at the Limay Kadiwa Center and LPC’s BizHub incubation center.

Dr. De Leon also emphasized LPC’s ongoing research on banana as a “tree of generation,” highlighting its potential to produce hundreds of products—from roots to fruit—demonstrating its scientific, economic, environmental, and cultural value.

He expressed his sincere appreciation to DTI for its continued support:
“We need DTI in realizing our goal of guiding our students to become future-ready. Through the ‘learn-and-earn’ approach, we help them sustain their needs while developing a deeper appreciation for their Business course.”

In response, DTI representatives reaffirmed their commitment to LPC’s advocacy, aligning with the agency’s mission to empower the youth through entrepreneurship for social growth and economic sustainability.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The exploratory meeting and related initiatives were coordinated by Dr. Rueda. #
