Date Posted: Oct. 21, 2026

The Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association (PGCA)–Bataan Chapter has been formally organized its leadership and initiated key organizational activities to strengthen professional capacity, promote continuing professional development, and advance the guidance and counseling profession across the province.

The chapter brings together registered guidance counselors (RGCs) from various institutions in Bataan, including Limay Polytechnic College (LPC), following its certification in June 2026.
Its establishment marks an important step toward building a stronger professional network committed to ethical practice, knowledge sharing, organizational development, and responsive guidance and counseling services.

The newly elected officers were formally presented, with Dr. Jesselyn Mortejo of Bataan Peninsula State University elected as Chapter President.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dominic Primero, RGC, Director of LPC’s Guidance, Testing, and Human Formation and Development unit, was elected as the chapter’s Public Relations Officer (PRO).

Strengthening Organizational Capacity and Professional Development

During their organizational meeting, the officers discussed the adoption and implementation of the chapter’s Constitution and By-Laws (CBL), preparations for an upcoming webinar offering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units, and the official launch of the chapter’s Facebook page.

These initiatives are intended to establish a stronger organizational foundation, facilitate communication among members, expand professional learning opportunities, and enhance the visibility of guidance and counseling services throughout the province.

The planned CPD webinar will provide a platform for professional knowledge sharing and continuing competency development, supporting registered guidance counselors in keeping abreast of emerging practices, professional standards, and evolving client needs.

Through its organizational initiatives, PGCA–Bataan Chapter demonstrates its commitment to strengthening professional collaboration and promoting the continuing development of guidance and counseling practitioners in educational institutions and other service settings.

Advancing LPC’s Professional Linkages and Quality Improvement

For LPC, Mr. Primero’s election reflects the College’s continuing engagement with professional organizations and networks relevant to its academic programs and institutional service units.

The College recognizes professional affiliations as valuable avenues for benchmarking practices, exchanging expertise, sharing resources, strengthening professional competencies, and updating institutional systems in response to emerging standards and community needs.

Consistent with its commitment to continuous quality improvement (CQI), LPC encourages its personnel to participate actively in professional associations, consortia, and collaborative networks that can contribute to more responsive, ethical, and effective institutional services.

Mr. Primero’s election also adds to the College’s growing record of professional organizational involvement and leadership, representing the 16th such opportunity for LPC personnel, as cited by the institution.

This milestone reflects the confidence placed in its personnel and the value of professional engagement in advancing both individual expertise and institutional development.

Reinforcing Guidance Services and Student Well-Being

Through the leadership of College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon, LPC continues to strengthen its guidance and counseling services through professional development, inter-institutional collaboration, and partnerships with organizations dedicated to mental wellness and human development.

The College views participation in professional networks, such as PGCA as an important mechanism for enhancing counseling practices, promoting ethical standards, and improving the delivery of psychosocial support to students and other stakeholders.

As the PGCA–Bataan Chapter moves forward with its organizational priorities, LPC extends its congratulations to the newly elected officers led by Dr. Mortejo, and also Mr. Dominic Primero's, election as Public Relations Officer.

LPC looks forward to the chapter’s continued growth and meaningful contributions to the guidance and counseling profession, recognizing that stronger professional networks ultimately help build more responsive services, healthier communities, and better-supported learners. #
