Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) continued its proactive planning for student development activities as College President Dr. Elmer De Leon convened the second of three presidential meetings on August 5, focusing on the presentation and review of the institution's major programs and activities scheduled for the month of August.
The meeting gathered activity chairpersons and organizers, together with representatives from the Office of Student Affairs, Discipline and Services (OSADS) and the heads of the academic departments. The collaborative planning session aimed to ensure that every activity is well-designed, educationally meaningful, safe, and efficiently implemented.
Among the proposed activities presented was the PRESET (Pre-Service Teacher) Seminar, which was introduced by Ms. Camille Aglinao, Adviser of Lingua Societas. The seminar is designed to prepare English major pre-service teachers for their internship deployment by equipping them with the knowledge, professional ethics, and competencies expected in the teaching profession.
Ms. Renziel Reyes presented the series of activities for the celebration of Buwan ng Wika, anchored on this year's national theme, "Wikang Filipino at AI sa Pananaliksik," which seeks to promote the Filipino language while exploring the emerging role of artificial intelligence in research and knowledge creation.
Meanwhile, Ms. Jesica Marata discussed the plans for the Pagtatalaga Ceremony and the institution's thematic Acquaintance Party, both of which are intended to strengthen student engagement, institutional identity, and camaraderie among members of the academic community.
She also reported the plan for the Annual ASEAN celebration set in a more festive and informative trend and style while bringing message of peace, unity and spirit of diversity and inclusivity among member nations.
The participants also took note of recently proposed institutional activities, including the Honors Convocation, presented by Ms. Marites Pacquing, College Registrar, and the Pinning and Lampara Investiture Ceremony, spearheaded by Ms. Jana Marie Mangune, Teacher Education Program Coordinator, under the leadership of Ms. April Cruz, Head of the Department of Teacher Education.
Representing the National Service Training Program (NSTP), Ms. Julie Diaz, together with Mr. Joemark Ablian, Director for Research, Innovation, and Extension, presented the schedule of NSTP training programs and student development activities that will commence this August.
The Department of Business and Accountancy, through Dr. John Levy Rueda, also introduced its initial plans for the Second Coining and Lighting Ceremonies and a Business Forum, both of which are intended to strengthen students' professional identity and enrich their academic and industry exposure.
Throughout the deliberations, the Office of Student Affairs, Discipline and Services reviewed each proposal from the perspective of program flow, crowd management, safety protocols, and preventive measures to ensure the orderly and secure conduct of every event.
Following the presentations, President De Leon approved the proposed activities in principle and authorized the respective chairpersons to prepare their activity training designs, including detailed implementation plans and proposed budgets.
A separate meeting will be conducted for budget deliberation and the finalization of crowd control and safety measures before the activities are implemented.
The President emphasized that every institutional activity must demonstrate cost-efficient resource utilization, measurable learning outcomes, and meaningful impact on student development, reflecting the College's commitment to responsible governance and return on investment.
