Date Posted: Oct. 17, 2026
Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) has received formal recognition from the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for its inaugural participation in the 2026 sustainability assessment, marking a significant milestone in the Collegeโs continuing commitment to environmental responsibility, institutional sustainability, and continuous quality improvement.
In a letter addressed to College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, Chairperson of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, conveyed appreciation to LPC for being among the institutions shortlisted and included in this yearโs ranking.
The acknowledgment reflects the growing commitment of higher education institutions to advancing sustainability and integrating environmentally responsible practices into institutional operations.
As part of this recognition, UI GreenMetric transmitted LPCโs official ranking certificate through the Collegeโs institutional account on the UI GreenMetric Portal, formally documenting its participation in the 2026 ranking.
Institutional Fact File: A Reference for Continuous Quality Improvement
In addition to the certificate, UI GreenMetric uploaded an Institutional Fact File to LPCโs official portal account.
The document is intended to help the College review and reflect on its sustainability performance, assess its standing across the UI GreenMetric assessment criteria, and identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
The Fact File may serve as a valuable reference for internal evaluation, institutional reporting, evidence-based planning, and the development of future sustainability programs and interventions.
It also provides an opportunity for LPC to identify its existing strengths, address performance gaps, and establish more focused priorities for improving its sustainability initiatives in succeeding assessment cycles.
In its closing statement, UI GreenMetric expressed the hope that the Fact File would prove valuable in supporting LPCโs continuing sustainability journey and strengthening its future performance.
Strengthening Sustainability Through Institutional Quality Improvement
LPC recognizes this milestone not merely as an achievement in international benchmarking but also as an opportunity to deepen its institutional commitment to sustainable development.
The College continues to advance sustainability through its programs, projects, and activities, with particular attention to institutional areas that demonstrate established strengths, including good governance, digitalization, academics, and research.
At the same time, the assessment provides a basis for identifying areas requiring further improvement, particularly water conservation and management, waste management, and other environmental sustainability initiatives.
Guided by the principles of continuous quality improvement (CQI), LPC aims to translate assessment results into practical institutional actions, measurable targets, and sustainable operational practices.
These efforts are intended to strengthen environmental stewardship, optimize resource utilization, promote responsible consumption, and encourage the active participation of the entire academic community in protecting the environment.
The College views sustainability as a shared institutional responsibility that extends beyond compliance and rankings.
It encompasses responsible governance, environmentally conscious teaching and research, community engagement, and the development of graduates who understand their role in building a more sustainable future.
Recognizing Collective Efforts and Institutional Partnerships
Through the Office of the College President, LPC commends the Internationalization Team, led by Mr. Mark Anthony Banda, for its dedicated efforts in coordinating the Collegeโs participation in the UI GreenMetric assessment and facilitating the preparation and submission of institutional sustainability information and supporting evidence.
The College likewise expresses its appreciation to the entire LPC community for its cooperation and support throughout the assessment process, recognizing that institutional sustainability achievements are made possible through collective commitment, shared responsibility, and consistent implementation.
LPC also extends its sincere gratitude to the Local Government of Limay, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Richie Jason David and Hon. Vice Mayor Marie Grace David, together with the Sangguniang Bayan, municipal departments and units, the Board of Trustees, community members, partner organizations, and other stakeholders whose continuing support contributes to the Collegeโs institutional development and sustainability initiatives.
Their partnership reinforces the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and local government in advancing environmental protection, community resilience, and sustainable development.
Realizing the Vision of the College Founder
For LPC, this international recognition represents another meaningful step toward realizing the institutional aspirations of its beloved founder, Hon. Nelson C. Davidโa vision of accessible, responsive, and transformative higher education that serves the people of Limay and contributes to the broader development of the nation.
As the College continues to strengthen its sustainability practices and pursue continuous improvement, it remains committed to ensuring that institutional progress translates into meaningful benefits for students, employees, communities, and future generations.
The UI GreenMetric recognition serves as both an affirmation of LPCโs initial efforts and a renewed call to action: to sustain existing strengths, improve areas of concern, and deepen its contribution to environmental stewardship through responsible governance, education, research, innovation, and community partnerships.
Together, we can make a difference and create a lasting impact for sustainable development.
