Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) sent two of its representatives to the Course on Mediation for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region 3 sponsored by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) held at Subic, Zambales, October 21-23, in partnership with the Department of Justice - Office of Alternative Resolution.

Ms. Jesica Marata, Officer of Student Affairs, Discipline and Services (OSADS); and Ms. Julie Diaz, President of Faculty Club and member of Discipline and Grievance Committee (DGCom) were officially sent to the said three-day course.

The said program was intended for the OSAS directors and prefects of discipline in HEIs in the region that included private, state and local colleges and universities.

Fortunately, LPC belonged to select HEIs in Region 3 that were exclusively invited to the said crash course that aimed to gain deeper knowledge, understanding and skills in mediation process amidst conflicts and discipline-related challenges and circumstances among students.

Notably, Ms. Marata and Ms. Diaz were cited as two of the Top 9 Promising Mediators among 69 participants. They both received certificates of recognition.

The two elated LPCian participants became so much appreciative of the learning insights from the eloquent and exemplary resource persons, their acquaintance with other participants who became their friends, and chance to rediscover their capacities in this field.

With all these, they were thankful to CHED and LPC for the wonderful experience, learning opportunity, new knowledge and skill-based exploration.

Excitedly, after their course, the latter reported and presented to the president a community-based ideation program that they were planning to execute that would enable them to apply their learning from the course. They will also be offering this program to the faculty and staff during the midyear capacity building activity this December.

Accordingly, the second leg of the course will be set soon by CHEDRO3 to upskill the participants in leveraging and advancing this foundational course. #
