Date Posted: Jan. 06, 2025
On the first day of school resumption for 2025, Hon. Remigio S. Tayag, Jr., SB Education Committee chair, paved a visit at Limay Polytechnic College and had a short discussion with Pres. Dr. Elmer B. De Leon regarding his support to microcredential trainings to be conducted to LPC for the students and graduates to find an edge and advantage in the workplace and in hiring opportunities. For him, short term training courses in technical, technology, BPO, etc. maybe added up to strengthen the latter's skills and credentials to make it and fair with the rest in the playing work field, which the president affirmed and in fact, is also in the pipeline of LPC directions, noting it to be a polytechnic college that has to be realized. Likewise, Dr. De Leon also mentioned that LPC is currently pursuing the BPO Academy as an output of capstone project he and Ms. Frances Ann Genese produced in their AIM-GALP CHED scholarship, while partnering with Genpact, a booming international BPO industry with branch in Bataan and other partner agencies. As a start-up, Hon. Tayag pushed the 3-day digital training with DICT immediately scheduled within the week for preservice teachers before their continuation of practice teaching in the second phasing. This was urgently coordinated by the Teacher Education Dept. at LPC and Hon. Tayag's Office. Dr. De Leon batted for another training intended for the Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) and faculty and staff in the next round to realize the digitization prospect of LPC toward internationalization which was seconded by Ms. Cheyser Charrese Gatchula, IT Education head and designated Institutional Planning Officer. Hon. Tayag and Dr. De Leon also discussed the operation updates and the latter appealed for more faculty trainings, benchmarking opportunities, research and extension support, the new campus development, smart classrooms and computer hub installation, campus radio broadcast and student trainings. They also tackled the Unifast fund utilization for sustainable operation. As such, BOT meeting needs to be set on the first quarter for charter revision and amendment, anchoring it to CMO 30 s. 2022 and approving resolutions for other developments.
