DTE stresses inclusivity; holds IPED confab

Posted Oct-31-2024

The Department of Education, thru the Educators' Guild and League of Elementary Education Preservice Teachers conducted a seminar on Indigenous People's Education dubbed as "Voices of the Land" on October 31, 2024 at the audiovisual room with Dr. Ivan Yarra, IPED proponent and advocate from DepEd Limay. This was very much timely in celebration of IPED Month. It was filled with IPED orientation and reflection facilitated by the resource speaker, including IP video presentation to clearly induce awareness and establish concern for IP brothers and sisters. More so, some IP students uttered testimonies of experiences, while some participating students expressed their realizations and set a new frame of thoughts about IPs upon listening to the discussion. Meanwhile, Pres. Dr. Elmer B. De Leon challenged the Education students with the purpose of establishing awareness on and understanding diversity for future practice in the field. "It's high time for us to reunite, break the boundaries and social divides, and learn together, aim together and succeed together amidst diversities and unique distinct differences that we need to maximize, instead. Anyway, we are one as we step on this earthly ground. Mr. Isaac Valdez, Teacher Education coordinator, stressed on inclusivity aligned with acceptance and respect for others. "Thus, let us show concern and respect to our IP brethren," cited Dr. Yarra. #SDG10ReducedInequalities
