NSTP studes explore community project for validation

Posted Oct-10-2024

A group of Marketing students came up with a community project in their National Service Training Program (NSTP) under Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) that would help and assist poor farmers in the upland areas of the Municipality of Limay. The organic fertilizer product presented by the students brings promises to ease up the latter's plant production. It also enhanced students' critical thinking, creativity, resourcefulness and responsibility in making impact to greater community. The said product underwent cross validation among experts and municipal agriculturists. It also sought advice upon consultation from the Offices of Municipal Agriculturist, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources and Public Market. After the product pitching, it is expected to be launched in the market and be turned over to the selected partner community very soon, while training the residents on manual production and distribution of the said product. Truly, it would benefit not only the farmers and their families, but also the common people who patronize and consume the latter's plant-based products organically and healthily, while reducing ill-effects of climate change. Field experts, agriculturists and farmers also extended their assistance and support in validating the said product through trial, experiment and assessment process. As such, the said project will be converted to an applied research upon further review and analysis of data by the Center of Research, Development and Extension. The students were guided and accompanied by Ms. Julie Diaz, adviser; Ms. Ann Lou Rochell Santiago, Extension coordinator and Ms. Frances Ann S. Genese, Research and Extension director. #SDG3goodhealthandwellbeing #SDG17partnershipsforthegoals #Sdg1Nopoverty #Sdg2 Zero hunger
