The Business Administration students of Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) gathered for product pitching of innovative banana produce in Limay Sports Complex for HIYAS NEGOSYO: Corporate Business Day as part of the 29th founding anniversary of
the institution, May 26.
Dr. Elmer B. De Leon, College President of LPC, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the abundance of banana plants locally and framed the initiative as an alternative to the common practice of harvesting only the fruit while discarding the rest of the plant.
His speech is followed by Provincial Director Eileen E. Ocampo of the Department of Trade andIndustry (DTI) and Ms. Imelda T. Rubiano, President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), as keynote speakers.
With the theme βCompetitive LPCian: Innovation, Development, and Growth Toward Entrepreneurial Success, β the event showcased 171 different products made from various parts of the banana plant, demonstrating the students' ingenuity in transforming agricultural waste into marketable goods.
βlnnovation is not a new product but a solution to an old problem,β Ocampo said, stressing the importance of adaptability in business. "Survival of the fittest when it comes to business industry. If you don't adapt and learn to adjust in business, your business will end."
βAim to be job creators. Be the problem solvers and innovators. Kayo na ang susunod na hahalili sa ekonomiya ng Bataan. β Ocampo urged.
She noted that DTI Bataan operates 30 Negosyo Centers across the province to assist micro and small enterprises, urging students not to waste opportunities and to leverage digital marketing tools and e-commerce to launch local products on a national scale.
