Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) conducted a vibrant program on Tuesday, August 26, to commemorate the founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Limay Sports Complex.
The celebration featured various booths set up by student organizations, each representing a member country of ASEAN and showcasing their unique cultures and popular tourist destinations. Several students also wore traditional attire representing the different ASEAN member countries.
LPC President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon formally opened the program with his welcome address, during which he proudly shared another milestone for the institutionβits recent recognition in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), where the college received a prestigious award.
Municipal Administrator Engr. Danilo Datay also delivered a message of support for the meaningful event and conveyed the well wishes of Limay Municipal Mayor Richie Jason David.
Meanwhile, the LPC Cultural Society presented a special performance featuring popular dances and songs from various ASEAN member countries.
In addition, selected students and faculty members of LPC competed in the ASEAN Quiz Bee, led by Dr. Elmer B. De Leon and Ms. Jesica Marata, highlighting their knowledge and awareness of ASEAN history and culture.
The duo of De Guzman and Presentacion emerged victorious in the professional category, while Bea Talavera from the Business and Accountancy Department claimed the championship in the student category.
A singing competition was also held, where the representative from the Education Guilds stood out with a powerful rendition of Freddie Aguilarβs βAnak,β which they also translated into Vietnamese.
Myanmar was declared the winner in the ASEAN Parade of National Flags and Costumes, represented by the combined groups of JFINEX and LEPT.
The celebration concluded with a message from Ms. Jesica Marata, who expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated in the event.
