Date Posted: Aug. 22, 2025

In celebration of 120 years of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa (Main), a partnership is about to be spurred with Limay Polytechnic College on their extension project that focuses on environmental care.

Hence, an initial collaboration and exploratory meeting was set for this purpose on August 20, which was attended in by PUP Extension Management Office headed by the director Dr. Rolan Malvar and LPC headed by Pres. Dr. Elmer De Leon with the Community Extension Team. Both institutions presented and introduced their current extension programs and projects in place.

In capsule, the said project will highlight coastal clean-up and tree planting activities along Limay suburb, considering that it is situated between coastal and highland areas.

As such, an initial assessment visitation is set by the PUP EMO to Municipality of Limay to meet their counterparts, while LPC is planning to visit the latter's office and campus in Manila sometime soon.

To note, as initially planned, PUP will take charge of material, human, transportation and food provision for the project; while LPC will set the coordination with the municipality, concerned agencies and the community in preparation and arrangement of the said activities, including the intended seedlings and probable locations. In this regard, the latter will schedule a coordination meeting with the local government unit for this matter before PUP officials come for their initial community assessment visit.
