Date Posted: Dec. 09, 2025
Limay Polytechnic College on Tuesday conducted a seminar on Republic Act 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act, and Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, organized by Mr. Mark Anthony Banda, president of Men Opposed to Violence against Women Everywhere (MOVE) - Limay Chapter, December 2.
A major portion of the discussion focused on RA 9262, where PSSG Lotes F. Bascara, investigator of the PNP Limay Women and Children Protection Desk, explained the different forms of abuse addressed by the law, such as physical, emotional, psychological and economic violence.
She detailed how controlling behavior, including restricting communication, withholding financial support or influencing personal decisions can constitute abuse under the act.
Bascara also explained the process of securing Temporary and Permanent Protection Orders, the rights of victims and the proper channels for reporting incidents.
She presented real-life case scenarios, without revealing sensitive information, to help participants recognize signs of abuse and understand the importance of intervention.
After the seminar, LPC employees gathered on the campus grounds to express their support for the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, a call to protect womenβs rights and create safer, more inclusive communities.
Faculty and staff wore orange, the global symbol for the campaign against gender-based violence. #
