Date Posted: Apr. 22, 2026
Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) is advancing an Integrated Guidance Service System designed to enhance student mental health through a multidisciplinary and technology-driven approach.
Anchored on the demands of the 21st-century digital landscape, the initiative underscores the importance of accessible, responsive, and holistic counseling services.
As part of this effort, LPC is developing a telecounseling platform aimed at addressing the growing mental health needs of students. This hybrid counseling system will enable learners to access professional support beyond regular school hoursβwhether during academic breaks, late at night, or even when they are off-campusβthereby ensuring continuity of care and timely intervention.
This research capstone is being spearheaded by a team led by Mr. Dominic Primero, RGC, Director of the Center for Guidance, Testing, Human Formation, and Counseling. He is joined by Ms. Cheyser Charesse Gatchula, Head of Information Technology Education; Ms. Visayas Villa, College Psychometrician; and Mr. Joemark Ablian, Director for Research, Development, and Extension, serving as co-researcher.
At present, the project is undergoing key developmental phases, including needs assessment and diagnostics, system design and development, and post-assessment validation through alpha and beta testing.
LPC continues to prioritize student mental health through a range of services, such as psychological assessment, counseling, peer support initiatives, and advocacy programs. At the same time, the institution remains responsive to emerging trends by integrating technological innovations into its support systems.
Ultimately, LPC affirms its commitment to the convergence of counseling interventions and digital technology as a strategic response to the evolving needs of todayβs learners in the light of sustaining mental wellness.
Upon completion, the study will be prepared for presentation at national professional platforms, such as the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association (PGCA) or the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP), and for publication in peer-reviewed academic journals. #
