Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) president Dr. Elmer B. De Leon served as guest speaker during the commencement exercises of Bataan School of Fisheries in Orion, Bataan, March 31.

Dr. De Leon, an alumnus of the institution, delivered a message centered on perseverance and the value of education, reminding the 320 graduates that success is a continuous process shaped by challenges and determination.

He shared personal accounts of growing up in poverty, including studying under streetlights due to lack of electricity and making do with limited clothing and school supplies during his high school years.

LPC prexy said that these experiences taught him discipline, humility, and resilience; values he described as essential in achieving success.

β€œSuccess is measured by how you rise every time you fall,” De Leon said, noting that failures and setbacks became his greatest teachers.

He outlined five key lessons for the graduates, urging them to never stop learning, value relationships, embrace failure, serve a purpose greater than themselves, and believe in their own abilities.

De Leon also encouraged the graduates to pursue higher education and consider enrolling at LPC, citing opportunities for accessible and free studies.

During the ceremony, he led the graduates in a pledge to their parents, encouraging them to remain grateful, pursue their dreams, and uphold the values instilled in them.

He expressed hope that the graduates would carry their learnings forward and build their future with confidence and character.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a certificate of recognition to De Leon for his role as guest speaker, aligned with the theme β€œFilipino graduates prepare to lead with confidence and character.” #
