Date Posted: Oct. 28, 2026
The Institutional Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (IPADS) and National Service Training Program (NSTP) instructors organized a drug awareness and Safe Spaces Act Symposium to educate about illegal drugs and promote a safe and respectful environment, at Limay Sports Complex, October 27.
The program opened with remarks from NSTP Coordinator Julie Ann Diaz, followed by a discussion led by Police Staff Sergeant (PSSg) Lotes F. Bascara, a guest speaker from the Investigator, Children and Womenβs Desk of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Limay.
Bascara discussed Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and explained the four common types of drugs: ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana, and shabu, including their various side effects.
Bascara incorporated songs into her presentation, alternating them with her explanations to make her presentation more engaging. After the discussion, students were given the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their concerns about the topic.
Bascara also discussed Republic Act No. 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act also known as Anti Bastos Law, which aims to protect individuals from gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces, workplaces, educational institutions, and online platforms.
She also emphasized the importance of respecting others, recognizing inappropriate behavior, and understanding the responsibility of every individual in helping prevent harassment.
The seminar provided LPCians with valuable knowledge about the dangers of illegal drugs and the importance of maintaining safe spaces. Through the discussions and interactive activities, the program encouraged students to make responsible decisions, respect others, and contribute to a safer and more informed community. #
