To protect the coastal ecosystem and raise awareness on environmental conservation, students from Limay Polytechnic College (LPC), along with community members and local organizations, actively participated in the International Coastal Clean-Up held at Limay Park and Barangay Lamao on Saturday, September 20.

Approximately 100 volunteersβ€”including students from the National Service Training Program (NSTP), LPC employees, and representatives from various organizationsβ€”worked together to clean up the shoreline, where they collected several tons of waste, mostly plastic bottles, food wrappers, and fishing gear.

Acting Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Head Johny E. Madocdoc emphasized the importance of collective action in safeguarding marine resources.

Meanwhile, Barangay Lamao Captain Leila Cruz expressed her community’s strong support for the initiative, stating, β€œEach wave of the sea carries life, but every piece of trash we throw threatens nature itself.”

This coastal clean-up drive, which is annually supported by LPC, demonstrated the care and responsibility of the community toward the environment. It served as a meaningful step in preserving the cleanliness and beauty of Limay’s shoreline for future generations. #
