Date Posted: Apr. 15, 2026
Faculty members from the Department of Business and Accountancy, together with their department head convened on April 6 for a meeting and reorientation on emerging instructional trends.
Dr. Elmer De Leon presided over the meeting and reiterated LPCβs commitment to transforming classrooms into learning simulation hubs, with courses culminating in experiential learning systems.
He emphasized a shift away from traditional teaching methods toward more innovative and student-centered approaches.
In line with this direction, the College discourages purely lecture-based instruction, student reporting, and expository methods. Instead, it promotes interactive, student-engaged discussions, as well as problem-based, design thinking, simulation, task-based, brain-based, output-based, product development and pitching, researches and feasibility studies and cooperative learning strategies.
βI want students to enjoy learning business processes with full interest, attention, and participation. Achieving this depends on how you facilitate your classrooms,β Dr. De Leon emphasized.
The department, under the leadership of Dr. John Levy Rueda, has also strengthened its engagement with various industries, enterprises, and government agencies to provide students with concrete, real-world learning experiences.
Dr. De Leon further noted the anticipated increase in enrollment in the Business Department for the upcoming academic year. He introduced key initiatives such as the βlearn-and-earnβ business learning model and vertical shadowing and mentoring approaches.
βOur goal is to equip students with life skills alongside their chosen field. This requires exposing them to diverse and relevant career opportunities,β he concluded.
He also highlighted the implementation of Business Start-up and Incubation Programs as part of the departmentβs forward-looking initiatives. #
