Limay Polytechnic College (LPC), in partnership with the Limay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), successfully launched the first two days of the three-day Disaster Risk Management: Basic Life Support and Standard First Aid Training attended by students and LPC’s teaching and non-teaching staff, held at the LPC Audio-Visual Room, Feb. 18–19.

Limay MDRRMO Officer Jaime G. Dolatre led the discussions on essential lessons to observe before, during, and after administering first aid and basic life support.

Lectures were followed by hands-on demonstrations of first-aid procedures, including the proper use of a triangular bandage, the correct process of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of a bag-valve mask.

Participants also performed return demonstrations after receiving instruction from MDRRMO trainers.

On the second day, the seminar continued with a review and reinforcement of the lessons discussed earlier.

Trainers also introduced the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a portable life-saving device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest by analyzing the heart’s rhythm and delivering an electric shock, if necessary, to restore a normal heartbeat.

MDRRMO representatives provided hands-on guidance as participants carried out simulations of the skills they learned during the two-day training, including the use of the AED.

A one-on-one assessment was also conducted. Participants took an examination in front of MDRRMO trainers to determine if they would pass and receive certificates recognizing them as Certified First Aiders.

Meanwhile, the three-day training seminar will conclude today with discussions on earthquake and fire drills led by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Limay.

Moreover, a simulation exercise is scheduled for later this afternoon.

Evaluators from the MDRRMO, BFP, and LGU Limay will assess LPC’s level of preparedness based on the knowledge and skills gained throughout the seminar. #
