In support of the National Tuberculosis Day and effort to promote the overall health and well-being of the students, Limay Polytechnic College (LPC), in coordination with the Limay-Rural Health Unit (RHU) through Ms. Aloha Teodoro, NTP Nurse Coordinator conducted a free Mobile Diagnostic Clinic at the LPC grounds, September 1.
A total of 200 LPC students availed themselves five different services offered during the activity, including health teaching, screening, X-ray, sputum testing, and medical consultation.
According to Technical and Vocational Program Head Ms. Rodalie Dineros, the event was part of the institutionβs "Healthy Learning Institution" project, which aims to protect studentsβ health and safety while also promoting their overall well-being.
Rural Health NTP Physician, Dr. Lovely Anne Estepa, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in identifying possible TB cases among Limay residents, including students. Early detection, she said, is crucial in preventing the condition from worsening and in initiating immediate medical response.
Dr. Estepa further added that health checkups like this should not be stigmatized. βIt is far more dangerous when an individual remains unaware of an existing health complication, as it may worsen over time and pose a risk of transmission to others,β she said.
Meanwhile, the activity highlighted the importance of proactive health measures and community involvement in building a safer, healthier educational environment. #
