Abstract
“You give, you get.”
Amidst economic crisis, financial difficulties and social challenges among students from marginalized sector, Indigenous Peoples Communities and those settled with less privileged conditions, comes a project of the Business and Accountancy Department at Limay Polytechnic College, named “Fineries Emporium and Student Business Hub.
By virtue of inclusivity, equity and equality through active engagement and productivity, students, who are incapable of providing their suits, bags and shoes during hiring interviews, job application and thesis defense and presentation, may grab the opportunity to avail of the corporate suit at the Fineries Emporium in the school. They can have the available supply without preparing lofty amount of money at hand but just in exchange of noodles, eggs, biscuits, bottled water, etc. for the Community Pantry Project that caters to students experiencing hunger and in need at any time. Thus, the project turns out to be a dual counter outreach program in the form of an emporium for free corporate suit, while also feeding others who are hungry. This means that a beneficiary can be a contributor in the outreach feeding program or after benefiting is also sharing.
Hence, in order to sustain the supply of corporate suits, the institution keeps on outsourcing for sponsors and donors of those preloved suits, bags and shoes. Visitors, who come in are toured to the Business Hub to avail of the products and food items and/or donate preloved corporate suits. The latter receive appreciation cards and their names and pictures are being posted in the Emporium Appreciation Hub. In fact, everyday, a lot of sponsors flock to the emporium hub for donation, which also means that the Community Pantry is likewise, being filled in with foods to feed hungry students.
On the other hand, the Business Administration students produce various products out of waste materials and food items out of available resource around. The products are being packed and sealed for marketing and selling purposes. The amount of money being generated has been a big help to augment students’ personal and school needs. The said products and food items are displayed in the Merchandize Glass Cabinet for sale, while the same are being uploaded through social media for online marketing.
With this project, students get benefited to sustain their economic needs, while continuing their studies along their respective degrees.
Truly, it bears impact not only among students, but also in the community that the institution serves for sustainable development.
