Putting premium and attention on business start-up program and the processing of incubation system to maximize the agency-granted funds to Limay Polytechnic College, a team led by Dr. John Levy Rueda, head of Department of Business and Accountancy visited and benchmarked the Business Incubation Program and its framework model at the Technology Business Incubation and Development Office (TBIDO) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) during its partnership and benchmarking campus tour on February 27 in its main campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

The LPC visiting team was warmly welcomed and accommodated by the TBIDO officials, namely: Dr. Engr. Philip Ermita, director; Engr. Armando Victoria; chief, Start-up Development Section; Ms. Hanah Pauline Delos Santos, administrative officer; and Engr. Tristan Velardo, DOST PUP Pylon TBI Project technical assistant.

Engr. Victoria prepared an orientation presentation of the program and their framework model, including successful programs, projects, external engagements and prospective funding sources.

Likewise, Engr. Velardo and Ms. Delos Santos unraveled their journey, including the challenges they have encountered in putting up the program. They also smartly responded to the inquiries and questions asked by the guests from LPC who got interested in adopting the program.

Notably, they unveiled agencies and related groups and redirected the latter to the ones situated in Central Luzon in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The TBIDO Team offered support and assistance to LPC as it also navigates similar ventures in the light of business start-up and incubation programs and processes aligned with the institutional vision and mission on assisting the local government in economic development and lifelong learning opportunities while maximizing potential resources in the Business Department.

To note, the TBIDO (under the Research, Extension and Development Division) serves as the startup commercialization unit of PUP grounded on RA No. 10055 (Technology Transfer Act), RA No. 11293 (The Philippine Innovation Act), and RA No. 11337 (The Innovative Startup Act) that emphasize the need for startup enablers and technology business incubation offices to support the creation of spin-off companies and startups.

Relatively, it fosters collaboration between researchers, innovators and industry partners to accelerate the translation of research outcomes into market-ready products and ventures. By nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship, it contributes to the growth of startup ecosystem, regional economic development and job creation.

To note further, LPC is already on its way to navigate this venture to support students in mastering related field competencies and potentials, establish relationship with prospective enablers of development and empower the communities for economic growth through local enterprises and product development.

Hence, LPC gratefully extends acknowledgment and appreciation to PUP and the TBIDO for this great opportunity to learn, engage and accelerate to greater development, and most of all, for the warm accommodation and selfless sharing of framework models, strategies, concepts and university resources. #
