Date Posted: May. 15, 2026
The Academic Council convened on May 4 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM to deliberate on the undergraduate honors list for the First Semester of School Year 2025β2026, finalize preparations for the Honors Convocation and Recognition Program, and address related academic matters and concerns.
During the meeting, the official list of honors students submitted by the Office of the Registrar underwent counter-validation and verification by the Director of Academic Affairs to ensure accuracy, reliability, and credibility.
The validated list was then presented before the Academic Council for review and approval.
College President Dr. Elmer de Leon presided over the deliberation and led the Council in reviewing the institutional policies and guidelines on academic honors as stipulated in the student handbook.
Following extensive discussions and evaluation, Mr. Joemark Ablian, Director for Research, Development and Extension (RDE), moved for the approval of the honors students from the first to third year levels for the First Semester of S.Y. 2025β2026.
Based on the approved list, a total of 21 students qualified for the Directorβs List, composed of 17 students from Teacher Education, two from Business Education, one from Accountancy, and one from Computer Technology.
Meanwhile, 148 students qualified for the Deanβs List, including 84 from Teacher Education, 29 from Business Education, 28 from Accountancy, and seven from Computer Technology. It was noted that the highest number of awardees came from the first-year level, followed by the second year.
The Council recognized that the semester recorded the highest number of academically performing students to date despite the institutionβs strict academic monitoring and quality assurance mechanisms.
This achievement reflects the studentsβ commitment to academic excellence and the Collegeβs continuing efforts in academic capacitation and support.
Considering the large number of awardees and the expected attendance of parents and guardians, the Council also discussed venue concerns. Consequently, it was decided to move the Honors Convocation to a later date to secure a bigger and more suitable venue.
The 8th Honors Convocation is now scheduled on June 4 at 3:00 PM, a day after the Commencement Exercises, and will still form part of the celebration of LPCβs 29th Founding Anniversary.
The Council likewise reviewed, finalized, and approved the protocol and proceedings of the convocation, including the proposed guest speaker, who traditionally is an accomplished alumnus or alumna of the College, as endorsed by the Office of the Registrar, the programβs lead office.
The motion for approval was carried by Ms. April Cruz, Director of Academic Affairs.
Having settled all matters relevant to the conduct of the 8th Honors Convocation, the Academic Council approved and passed a corresponding resolution for this purpose.
Meanwhile, details regarding co-curricular awards, outstanding organizations, and special citations will be finalized by the Office of Student Affairs, Discipline and Services in coordination with the Supreme Student Council.
These recommendations shall be presented in a subsequent Academic Council meeting for deliberation, approval, and resolution. #
