Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) Pres. Dr. Elmer De Leon served as keynote speaker in the recently coveted Educators' Congress organized by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Region 3 held at Kalinangan Auditorium, La Consolacion University Philippines, City of Malolos, Bulacan, November 15.
Themed "Beyond Classroom: Spiritual Journey of a Professional Teacher", the congress became a solemn reflection of becoming a teacher of time as God's chosen and heaven sent to mankind.
In his remarks, Dr. De Leon walked the participants through the struggles, pains and joys of every teacher in and outside classrooms through diverse experiences and stories of encounters each day. But amidst all these, is a reliving truth that he/she has a significant role to take and a life changing mission and ministry to make that would create impact on their students' lives, their communities and the country. In a different way, the keynote speaker made his part more emotionally driving, life thriving and purposively reminiscing. At the end of his talk, he invited the audience to encourage each one and console themselves in appreciating this noble calling among only chosen few that include them.
Other resource speakers who gave more significance and added to a reflective mood through their respective sessions were Sr. Dr. Niceta Vargas, OSA (LCUP President) on topic: Spirituality in the Teaching Workplace; Dr. Ronnie Mallari (DepEd Region 3 Director) on Spirituality in the Context of DepEd; and Dr. Lora Yusi (Outgoing CHEDRO3 Director and Incoming CHED-OIQAG Director) on Spirituality in the Context of CHED.
At the end, Dr. De Leon acknowledged the PAFTER3 Board led by its president Dr. Olivia Almario and immediate past president Dr. Alma Natividad for coming up with a very relevant and timely topic amidst chaotic socio-political environment in the country that intensely triggers mental health state of learners.
"With the overaching political asylum that confronts our learners each day, much that we need to stand stronger for truth and keep unto our faith to save them from the agony of deceptions, lies and corruption and thereby, equip our future generation with utmost honesty and integrity," resonated Dr. De Leon.#
