Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) has introduced ACT Java Coach, an online interactive learning assistant designed to help Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) students strengthen their Java programming skills through structured practice and guided support, August 4.

Developed under the leadership of Information and Technology Education Department Head Cheyser Charrese C. Gatchula, the web-based tool falls under the Infrastructure and Technology category and is accessible at javacoach.e-lpc.com. The platform provides drills, challenge modes, progress tracking, and adaptive motivational feedback tailored to college-level Java learners

ACT Java Coach was created in response to persistent challenges faced by students in building programming fluency without frequent practice and timely feedback. By offering step-by-step debugging guidance and algorithm design support, the system allows learners to practice consistently beyond classroom hours while reducing frustration and dropout risk

The platform covers core Java fundamentals, including syntax, control structures, methods, arrays, and object-oriented concepts, through progressive exercises and timed challenges. Students can monitor their mastery over time, while instructors gain visibility into learning gaps that can guide targeted academic interventions.

Ms. Gatchula said the initiative strengthens LPC’s digital learning strategy by extending instruction outside traditional laboratory schedules.

ACT Java Coach is currently in continuous implementation and improvement. Faculty members integrate the assistant into class routines, while student testers provide feedback to refine exercise difficulty, usability, and engagement features

Early impacts include improved programming confidence among students and more efficient use of instructional time for professors, who can focus on higher-level coaching rather than repetitive debugging support.

Future plans for ACT Java Coach include expanding the exercise bank, developing instructor dashboards, integrating the platform with the college’s learning management systems, and enhancing mobile accessibility.
