Interactive, CAI strategies, new assessment concept cap Capacity Building

The day 2 of the Annual Faculty Capacity Building stemmed on orientation on conventional and interactive strategies and new assessment perspectives, held at the Computer Hub, July 04.
In the morning, Mr. Joemark Ablian, director of Research, Development and Extension (RDE) alighted everyone on Utilizing Innovative Conventional Learner-Centered Teaching Strategies. In his session. He effectively elaborated the significance, process and expected impact of employing those presented strategies.
The lecture continued in the afternoon when Ms. Cheyser Charrese Gatchula, head of Information Technology Education (ITE) and the Institutional Planning officer facilitated her session on Computer-Assisted Intetactive Instructional Techniques that she demonstrated.
Dr. Elmer De Leon, president enlightened everyone on Paradigm Shift to New Assessment Culture Mindset by reiterating the very essence of assessment in teaching-learning as first part of his session on this topic. He also cited some authentic assessment tools essential for outcomes-based assessment that they may pursue and how to resolve assessment issues, sustain integrity and objectivity toward bias-free process and imbue critical and creative thinking to make it purposively work.
Accordingly, he sets the second part sometime soon that will encompass a writeshop on critical thinking-based quality summative test for board-based, CSC and other standardized assessment exercises and practices.
Hence, Ms. Gatchula introduced some computer-aided assessment. To motivate the participants, she prepared relevant digital games and tendered prizes to those who were able to make it under pressure and utmost speed.
At the end, Dr. De Leon reminded the very purpose of this segment which is to integrate variety of relevant, timely and developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and assessment integrated with technology apt in the new normal toward impact-driven outcomes that he expects in developing curriculum materials to be utilized in class. These materials shall undergo critiquing and validation upon presentation by the faculty teams in succeeding days.
With this training program, everyone sets him/herself ready to face the classroom and/or any learning environment context this coming school year and beyond.
