Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) is set to roll out a business start-up initiative following a planning meeting led by College President Dr. Elmer B. De Leon at the LPC library, January 7.

The meeting gathered key stakeholders, including Business and Accountancy Department Head Dr. John Levy Rueda, BA department instructors, and the YFC regional winners Selina Regalado, Mark Renier Pador and Bea Talavera, to discuss the initial steps and long-term direction of the proposed enterprise.

During the meeting, participants agreed that the project’s starting phase will prioritize food testing and product development, the identification of a temporary production site in Alangan, Limay, and the coordination with suppliers for raw materials and production needs.

Faculty members from the business department were encouraged to actively assist in the operation and production of the enterprise by providing ideas, guidance and technical support, particularly in preparation for an upcoming national competition.

Proposed business is expected to benefit LPC students through experiential learning and skills development, with plans to expand its reach to the broader community in the future.

The team also emphasized the need to prepare a comprehensive business proposal detailing the required facilities, equipment and production process.

Further studies on the banana plant, focusing on the utilization of each of its parts for value-added products, were likewise identified as a priority.

Participants also agreed to reassess the product name and logo to strengthen branding and to begin preparations for the next Young Farmers Challenge to ensure the sustainability of the initiative.

Moreover, the group likewise discussed the preparation for the Business Week this semester, which aims to identify and select a product that will represent the college in the next Young Farmers Challenge competition.#
